Groundwater recharge and the retention and controlled discharge of stormwater into the receiving water are two central topics of surface water management. Classically, retention basins or storage channels are used here.

The ACO Stormbrixx block infiltration system provides an additional innovative and optimal solution: In infiltration the previously collected and treated surface water is collected in the ACO Stormbrixx system. From there it is gradually discharged into the soil and promotes groundwater recharge.

Encased in a waterproofing geomembrane, a type of tank is formed, where the previously collected and cleaned surface water is stored in. With a time delay, the water will be discharged into the receiving water. The controlled discharge of surface water into sewers or the receiving water is becoming increasingly important, especially in case of heavy rainfall events. In this way, the peak runoff of the surface water of a storm is spread over a longer period and is therefore reduced.

Stormbrixx SD 900 - suitable for large vehicle parking and areas with larger cover depth

Product advantages:

  • Safe and reliably system stability through structural calculations
  • Simple inspection and cleaning from any directions
  • Stackable body elements for ease of transport
  • Reduced CO2 emissions due to lower transportation cost
  • Modular design for easy installation
  • Storage coefficient up to 97%
  • Long lifespan of 50 years in accordance with DIBt guidelines.

Applications: frost-free installation depth, without groundwater influence:

  • Landscaped areas, driven by mowers
  • Pedestrian areas, protected by obstacles (bord, bollards) from driving
  • Driveways to carparks, crossing of emergency vehicles possible
  • Carparks, crossing of emergency vehicles possible
  • Access roads for residential property with scheduled crossings by special vehicles (refuse or tank vehicles) as well as operating service vehicles
  • Access roads for residential property with scheduled crossings by special vehicles (refuse or tank vehicles) as well as operating service vehicles
  • Storage areas and secondary facilities of traffic routes which are not constantly used by heavy traffic (mainly stationary traffic, no traffic lane. Connection between storage areas)
  • Traffic routes with heavy traffic: only in consultation with ACO Application engineering

ACO Stormbrixx SD 900 has passed MFPA Leipzig in 2019.

Creep test is the most important indicator to evaluate the safe capability of Stormbrixx. Both ACO’s Stormbrixx SD and HD have passed the creep test (up to 3000 hours) through third-party professional institutes, and the deformation after 50 years as well as lifespan can be calculated.

Recyclable polypropylene material, rigorous production process control and continuous tests are the guarantee of ACO’s product quality.

Controlled release – attenuation of storm water

During heavy rainfall, large volumes of rainwater can enter the ACO Stormbrixx for temporary storage, and then it can be released in a time-delay fashion into the watercourse or sewage system. Therefore, the problems of excess surface water and limited drainage capacity can be relieved.

ACO engineers can provide you with technical support for stormwater drainage solutions, including:

  • Drainage scheme
  • Product selection guide and material list
  • Drawing deepening
  • Relevant technical instructions
